Beautiful artworks ‘old portraits’ from Susana Blasco

It arises from chance, experimentation and play. These are photographs taken with a mobile phone of different everyday objects placed momentarily on old portraits. Without any photo retouching the images are published directly on Instagram with the filter earlybird and under the hashtag #antiheroes_sb. It is a project that emerged in January 2012 and that continues to increase in the number of anti-heroes and in the number of followers (more than 24,000). In addition to its impact on social networks and specialized press, it has been exhibited in different Spanish cities, in Lisbon and in Los Angeles.

And it has been chosen to be part of the books Instaphotographers 2014 , Mixology and Contemporary Portraits, all of them of international circulation. There are prints available for sale in ETSY. “My popularity has to do with the divorce between modern art, where everything is obscure, and the viewer who often feels he needs a professor to tell them whether it’s good or not. I believe a painting has to talk directly to the viewer, with composition, color and design, without a professor to explain it.” – Fernando Botero

“People always make the mistake of thinking art is created for them. But really, art is a private language for sophisticates to congratulate themselves on their superiority to the rest of the world. As my artist’s statement explains, my work is utterly incomprehensible and is therefore full of deep significance.” ― Bill Watterson
