Erik Johansson

Erik Johansson

Erik Johansson is born on 1985, a photographer and artist from Sweden based in Prague, Czech Republic. His work can be described as surreal scenes created by combining different photographs. Erik works on both personal and commissioned projects with clients all around the world. In contrast to traditional photography he doesn’t capture moments, he captures ideas with the help of his camera and imagination. The goal is to make it look as realistic as possible even if the scene itself contains impossible elements. In the end it all comes down to problem solving, finding a way to capture the impossible.

All above the sky

A dream that is not interpreted is like a letter that is not opened” is a famous quote from Freud. The surrealists were less interested in interpretation of their dream symbols than they were in the expressive capacity of such states.

The surrealists admired the artwork of the insane for its freedom of expression, as well as artworks created by children.

Demand supply

I guess Surrealism has a draw for me because it’s an unknown world. It’s a world of subconscious. Some things you can’t really get your hands on very easily. Things that are kind of nebulous and they feel like they’re not completely formed. You have to feel your way through that.
